5 BEST PATIOS | DOWNTOWN TORONTO

5 Best Patios - Downtown Toronto

Trying our best to not include the super well known patios in the city such as Cabana Poolbar or rooftops associated with hotels -- we’ve constructed a list of Toronto’s best patios to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ever changing theme in Toronto’s social scene.

Amsterdam Brewhouse // 245 Queen Quay West

Arguably the patio that offers the greatest outdoor experience can be said to be Amsterdam Brewhouse.  Fronting on the lake, this 2 storey indoor and outdoor patio is the summer mecca for patio and sun.  Reservations should be made here at least 3 days prior to your event to avoid disappointment!  Tasteful decor to go along with the food and in house brewed drinks makes this place fantastic for day and nightlife, also there is easy parking for those traveling by car!

Lavelle // 627 King Street West

When it comes to rooftop patios, the competition is fierce.  If not the best overall experience, Lavelle offers the greatest views of the city while enjoying a cocktail.  Sitting atop a 16 storey tower is Lavelle’s rooftop, mainstage by a swimming pool surrounded by tables and private cabanas where you can enjoy an exclusive menu of Brazilian & Japanese inspired cuisine.  Lavelle has most definitely raised the bar of rooftop experiences in Toronto and may not have quite been dethroned from its spot atop the best patio experience in Toronto.

King Taps // 100 King Street West

Located at The First Canadian Place in the financial district of Toronto is King Taps -- a two storey patio that offers modern, elegant and open space for you to enjoy a menu filled with a variety of pizza and sandwiches.  The open kitchen design here is a beautiful compliment to the exposed brick and marble found throughout the 140+ seat patio.

 Gusto 101 // 101 Portland Street

A very recent and clever addition to Gusto 101 has increased the capacity and also extended the patio season to year round with the glass enclosed patio.  Gusto 101 provides a mainly Italian menu to those looking to feast with a very colourful cocktail and drink menu to go along with your meal.  Gusto 101 is in the ever competitive King West neighbourhood, however adding the glassed enclosure should definitely keep them competitive among the best patio experiences year round in Toronto.

Bar Reyna // 158 Cumberland

Yorkville may be the most competitive restaurant scene in Toronto’s diverse neighbourhoods of food.  First class experience and incredibly quality taste is the only way to maintain competitiveness here.  Bar Reyna exemplifies both those qualities and more.  A personal favourite for the experience; be it the upstairs cocktail bar or the patio out back with a retractable roof -- meaning you can enjoy Bar Reyna in all seasons.  Each patio on our list has at least one reason making it an absolute must for you to visit, however Bar Reyna checks off every quality you’d want in your patio dining experience.

With the recent approval by the city of Toronto -- some patios will be granted permission to remain open throughout this winter in an effort to support local restaurants!

The CafeTO program which allowed more restaurants and bars to use designated sidewalk and road space to serve customers outdoors this past spring and summer will be extended through this winter as well. Restaurants will be able to continue dining on expanded patios and curb-side cafes through the winter, but only those that are near public parks or on private property and allow for proper street and sidewalk cleaning/access for the upcoming winter.
