5 Best Gyms In Downtown Toronto
Looking for the best place to get a pump in Toronto? In this article we will touch on the 5 best gyms to get in and enjoy a workout in Toronto.
Writing this in the COVID-19 era is definitely difficult as we hope the gyms on this list (and all gyms) can sustain the mandated shut downs by the province. However, all these gyms we will write about today are gyms that are not specific to a niche -- think CrossFit, boxing, F45 classes, spin classes etc. Although any of these gyms may offer specific classes, we are focusing here on gyms that offer the everyday services a typical gym go-er will be looking for.
Fortis Fitness // 11 Carlaw Avenue, Units 1-3 // @fortisfitness
A fantastic gym here in Toronto, Fortis Fitness does it undeniably well with their membership offerings; its 24/7 access, no contract, no commitment. Although Fortis is very welcoming and open to all levels of gym-goers, this is a gym you want to go to if you’re looking for some serious motivation or intend to break through barriers if you’ve hit a roadblock in your fitness life! Fortis is definitely known a little more as a powerlifting gym, and in saying so, you can expect to be using top tier up to date machinery. This is not a gym where you will leave unsatisfied or unable to perform an exhausting workout! Although it is a not a huge space, they undeniably have some of the best equipment in the Toronto core.
The Rosedale Club // 920 Yonge Street // @rosedaleclub
Perhaps one of the nicest gyms in Toronto, The Rosedale Club has it all -- from marble covered change rooms, to a juice bar, to just under 18,000 square feet of equipment for you to use. In my opinion this is one of the best put together fitness centres in Toronto, when considering machinery, cardio equipment, change rooms and overall experience each time you visit. For those coming from other cities looking for a gym, you can compare The Rosedale Club to the likes of gyms such as Lifetime, and Movati in terms of quality and atmosphere!
GoodLife Fitness Yonge & Richmond // 137 Yonge Street @goodlifefitness
Right in between Richmond and Adelaide you will find this GoodLife Fitness at street level. The reason we included this GoodLife over the location in Liberty Village is due in part to the more centralized location, 24 hour accessibility Monday-Thursday, and extended weekend hours.
Not only that but the machinery and classes are top notch as well. You will receive all the most recent equipment GoodLife uses here, as well as a full class schedule for anyone looking to be active in group fitness.
Equinox Yorkville // 55 Avenue Road
Another all in one package is here at Equinox in Yorkville. This 3 floor gym offers every single experience you will ever look for in a gym; top quality equipment, classes, spa, cafe, and luxury finishes from the lobby to the change rooms!
Specific to this Equinox location is a competitive cycling class in the top floor studio. The main floor features the main gym area; weights, machines, cardio, where as the main floor is a smaller gym area used more so for private workouts and smaller classes. Again, being a luxury gym, it can be compared to high end gyms such as Lifetime in terms of service and clientele!
System Fitness // 2100 Bloor St W. Toronto // @systemfitness
Heading a little west from Downtown we come to System Fitness close to Bloor West Village. Although this is not a wide spread branded gym, System Fitness is another gym that has created a fantastic atmosphere to put together consistent workouts with top tier machinery. You come here to get your work in, lift heavy weights, and get back out! Although they do include classes much like the other gyms, members here come here to workout and get better! At System Fitness you’re not as concerned about towel service or a juice bar, but they will offer you endless weights and up to date equipment to better your workout and health!
