Condos in CITYSPHERE

CITYSPHERE 801 King Street West King West

Citysphere Condos – 801 King St W

Registration Date 1991-03-30

Architectural feats and innovative concepts in high-rise condominium living at Citysphere condos. Canadian Equity and Development and Lomax Management started a trend in the 1990s in the sizzling residential market with Citysphere condos at 801 King Street West between Niagara and Tecumseh. Major urban revitalization was in process between West Queen West and the Fashion District. In fact, the project was the first in the area.

The emphasis was on classic brick and glass in a V shape with a horizontal orientation despite the 27 storeys. It suited the neighbourhood to a tee with its industrial vibe and nod to the historic structures of the past. When it opened, it was lauded for the rare tennis court, jogging track and rooftop terrace, as well as full array of amenities including a meeting and boardroom.

Citysphere Condos Amenities

The updated units of Citysphere offer bright modern designs in a variety of one and two-bedroom suites with optional den, and 12 townhouses. Given the buildings 27 stories and 338 units, you know that the condos are spacious and airy with up to 1500 square feet of livable space. Every suite has a view from a picture window. No wonder there is an interesting mix of residents from singles, professional couples, families and retirees.

The gardens are beautifully landscaped and provide an offset to the streetscape a few steps away. The condo complex is perfectly maintained inside and out from the fully-equipped gym and sauna to the roof deck  and outdoor lounge, where a garden with city views awaits. Sustainability was already on the tip of the tongue when Citysphere condos opened, affording low-maintenance and energy-savings to residents.

Amenities were not forgotten in the initial concept. Barbecues adorn the communal terrace and Jacuzzis beckon those with weary bones. Inside the units, custom kitchens and well-appointed bathrooms provide all the necessities of the finest modern life. Materials and finishes are the best, adding to the luxury status of the building. Careful consideration has been given to the need for storage and in-suite laundry to make relocation comfortable and an easy transition, proving that an “older building” is still a desirable choice.

Citysphere Neighbourhood

With great foresight, Lomax selected what was to become one of the most coveted neighbourhoods in the city. The developer led the way for an influx of residents who wanted to enjoy the amenities of the King Street West area. Already, shops, restaurants, recreational venues, and parks were part of the street life, beckoning young professionals and families to join the ranks of the locals who knew what was in store.

Nestled in the heart of the downtown Entertainment District, there is easy access to the best of Toronto on foot, by car, or by means of the superior mass transit system. To name a few landmarks, the neighbourhood  contains the CN Tower, Metro Toronto Convention Centre and Rogers Centre Stadium. Whether you like to dine out, attend a sports event or go to the theatre, your needs are accommodated near home.

Locals mention the Foggy Dew Irish Alehouse and Pub as a popular bar and eatery, just a stone’s throw from the condo. Also convenient is the Old York Bar & Grill on Niagara and restaurants like Ichiban Sushi. Coffee lovers congregate at the Thor Espresso Bar. You will also see them in numbers at the Fresh & Wild Food Market or Loblaws on Queen. Before setting out for a few drinks and a snack, you may want to take your pet to the region’s favourite dog park—Stanley Off Leash. For the kids, the huge Trinity Bellwoods Park is due north. The area is a hub of outdoor recreation and family fun. Sophisticated urbanites appreciate the nightlife of the area and arts and culture focus. Of course, the Harbourfront is a major draw for everyone.

Living in downtown means that a streetcar will connect you to the TTC lines such as Bathurst and Spadina or Yonge-University subways. Union Station is the mass transit hub of Toronto. There are numerous bike lanes and the Gardiner Expressway to the south, providing residents with a full choice of transportation, giving the neighbourhood a 100 transit score.

Citysphere Developers

Lomax has been behind key developments in the Greater Metropolitan area like Citysphere and Niagara Cooperative that soon became a harbinger of what was to come. While their projects vary in size and complexity, they all exude quality construction and thoughtful design. While they are known for their office and commercial work (like restaurants and hotels), the residential offerings are regarded with esteem in the real estate arena. King West Condos, Lakeshore Cooperative, Tuscany Gates and Belair Gardens continue the modern aesthetic associated with Toronto revitalization.
